Privacy Policy
Effective date: 5 October 2026
Last updated: 9 October 2026
Underdraw ("the app") is made by docren155, an independent developer ("I", "me"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app on iPhone or Android.
The short version: Underdraw works offline. It has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Your photos and drawings stay on your phone. I never see them, sell them or share them.
If you have questions, email me at doclabs155@gmail.com.
1. What the app uses, and why
| What | Why the app needs it | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | Shows the paper under your phone so you can trace the image (trace mode), turns on the flashlight, and lets you take a photo to trace. | The live camera picture is shown on screen only. It is not recorded, saved or sent anywhere. A photo you take is saved inside the app on your phone. |
| Photos you choose | Lets you pick an image from your photo library to trace. The app only gets the photos you pick, not your whole library. | Saved inside the app on your phone. |
| Recent images | Remembers the last 10 images you used so you can open them again. | Stored inside the app on your phone. The oldest is deleted automatically when you add a new one. |
| App settings | Remembers things like whether you have seen the welcome screens. | Stored inside the app on your phone. |
| Screen brightness | Sketch mode turns brightness up to the maximum while you trace, and sets it back when you leave. | Not stored or sent anywhere. |
The app does not use your microphone, location, contacts, or any other personal information. It does not ask for your name, email address or age.
2. Information I collect
I do not collect personal information. Your images, drawings, recent images and settings never leave your phone. I have no servers that receive them and no way to see them.
App updates. To fix bugs quickly, the app may check for a small update to its own code when it starts. This check goes to Expo, the service I use to deliver app updates (expo.dev). Like any internet request, it includes your phone's IP address, plus technical details needed to send the right update: the app version, whether your phone runs iOS or Android, and a random ID created by the app. This random ID is not linked to you, your device's advertising ID, or any other app. None of your images or settings are included. This information is used only to deliver updates and keep them working. See Expo's privacy policy.
App stores. Apple and Google may collect information when you download or use apps, such as crash reports if you have agreed to share them with developers. This is controlled by Apple's and Google's own privacy policies and settings on your phone, not by me. If crash reports are shared with me, they do not include your images.
3. What I do not do
- No ads of any kind.
- No analytics, tracking or advertising IDs.
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No selling, renting or sharing of your information.
- No uploading of your photos or camera picture.
- No in-app purchases.
4. Children
Underdraw is a drawing app that can be used by people of all ages, including children. I designed it so that it collects no personal information from anyone, including children:
- It has no ads, no chat, no sharing and no links to social media.
- It does not ask for a name, email, age or any other personal information.
- Camera pictures and chosen photos stay on the phone.
- The only internet use is the update check described in section 2, which uses a random app ID only to deliver app updates and is never used to identify, contact, track or advertise to anyone.
I follow Google Play's Families Policy. If you are a parent or guardian and have a question about your child's use of the app, email doclabs155@gmail.com.
5. How your information is stored and kept safe
Everything the app saves is kept in the app's private storage on your phone, which other apps cannot read. It is protected by your phone's own security, such as your passcode and device encryption.
6. How long it is kept, and how to delete it
- Recent images: the app keeps up to 10. Older ones are deleted automatically.
- Everything else: kept until you uninstall the app.
- To delete everything: uninstall Underdraw. This removes all images, recent images and settings the app saved. Photos in your phone's photo library are not changed by the app.
Because I do not hold any of your information, there is nothing for me to delete on my side.
7. Permissions and how to change them
The app asks for permission before using the camera or your photo library, and explains why. You can say no. If you do, the parts of the app that need that permission will not work, but the rest will (for example, you can still use the built-in templates in sketch mode). You can change permissions at any time in your phone's Settings.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, in the European Union, the United Kingdom or California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or move your personal information, or to object to how it is used. Because the app does not send your personal information to me, I usually have none to provide or delete. You can still contact me at doclabs155@gmail.com with any request or question, and I will reply within 30 days. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
9. Changes to this policy
If I change how the app handles information, I will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. If a change is important, such as starting to collect new information, I will tell you in the app or in the app store release notes before it takes effect.
